Who we are

MakeASkill ("we") is based in the United Kingdom and is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: makeaskill41@gmail.com.

What we collect and why

• Email address — to send you the skill you request (performance of the service you asked for) and to enforce the free limit of 5 skills per day (legitimate interests: preventing abuse). For rate limiting we store a one-way hash of your email, not the address itself.
• Marketing emails — only if you tick the box. If you opt in, we store your email, the wording you agreed to and the time, and send you about one email a week with new skills and tips (consent, under UK GDPR and PECR). The box is never pre-ticked and you get your skill whether or not you tick it.
• Your skill answers — the platform, description and answers you give are sent to our AI provider to generate the skill. We don't keep them after your skill is sent. Please don't include sensitive or confidential information.
• IP address — used in hashed form to enforce the daily limit and prevent abuse (legitimate interests).
• Visit statistics — we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It's cookieless: it doesn't set cookies or store anything on your device, and it doesn't identify you or follow you across sites (legitimate interests: understanding which pages help people).

Who we share it with (processors)

• Anthropic (AI that writes your skill) — United States.
• Resend (sending email) — European Union.
• Vercel (hosting and visit statistics) — global network, with servers in the US and elsewhere.
• Upstash (storage for daily-limit counters and consent records) — United States.

Where data leaves the UK, it's protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the UK Addendum, or by a UK adequacy decision (the EU, and US companies certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). We don't sell your data.

How long we keep it

Rate-limit counters expire after about 26 hours. Generation logs (hashed email, platform, skill name) are kept for 12 months. Marketing consent records are kept while you're subscribed and for 2 years after you unsubscribe, as proof of consent. When you unsubscribe, we also keep your address on a suppression list so we never email you marketing again.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in every marketing email, or by emailing makeaskill41@gmail.com. You can ask to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, or object to processing. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We don't use cookies for advertising, tracking or analytics. Our visit statistics are cookieless.
