Bug Triage skill for Codex & others

Most debugging time goes on finding the cause, not fixing it. This skill gives Codex (and any Agent Skills tool) a disciplined loop: reproduce, isolate, fix minimally, and prove it with a test.

What it's good for

How the skill works

  1. Restate expected vs actual behaviour
  2. Reproduce with the smallest possible input or test
  3. Trace the code path and form a hypothesis
  4. Apply the smallest fix that addresses the root cause
  5. Add a regression test that fails before and passes after

Built-in rules

Example

You: “TypeError: cannot read 'id' of undefined in checkout.ts”
Result: A failing test, a root cause (race on cart load), a 3-line guard fix and a passing test.

# Bug Triage

## Workflow
1. Restate expected vs actual behaviour
2. Reproduce with the smallest possible input or test
3. Trace the code path and form a hypothesis
4. Apply the smallest fix that addresses the root cause
5. Add a regression test that fails before and passes after

## Rules
- Don't refactor unrelated code during a fix
- Report if the bug can't be reproduced instead of guessing
- Explain the root cause in plain English
