Changelog skill for Codex & others
Commit logs aren't release notes. This skill turns your git history into a changelog that users understand, grouped by Added, Changed and Fixed.
Customise this skill free →What it's good for
- Open-source releases
- SaaS product update pages
- Keeping CHANGELOG.md current
How the skill works
- Find the last release tag
- Collect commits and PR titles since then
- Drop internal-only changes (chore, ci, refactor)
- Rewrite entries in user-facing language
- Group under Added / Changed / Fixed / Removed following Keep a Changelog
Built-in rules
- Call out breaking changes at the top
- Credit external contributors
- Don't expose internal ticket details
Example
You: “Write release notes for v2.3.0”
Result: A CHANGELOG.md section with 4 Added, 3 Changed, 6 Fixed entries and a breaking-change notice.
