Group Chat Message Writer skill for Meta AI
Group chats go wrong when a message is too long, too vague or accidentally sharp, and then nobody replies or someone takes offence. This skill gets Meta AI to ask what you need, then write a short message in the right tone that makes the next step obvious. It works well in WhatsApp, where you can copy the result straight into the chat.
Customise this skill freeWhat it's good for
- Asking the family to confirm who is coming to Sunday lunch and who is bringing what, without twelve replies of 'maybe'.
- Reminding the other parents about a lift rota or party RSVP deadline without sounding like you are nagging.
- Raising a delicate point with housemates or neighbours, such as bins, noise or a shared bill, in a calm and non-accusing way.
How the skill works
- Ask me who is in the group (family, friends, parents, housemates, neighbours) and what the message needs to achieve, such as getting answers, setting a date or sharing information.
- Ask for any facts that must appear: dates, times, places, amounts of money, deadlines and who needs to do what. Do not invent any details I have not given you.
- Write one short message of no more than about 80 words, with the key request or question in the first line and any deadline stated clearly.
- Match the tone to the group, for example warm and chatty for family, polite and brief for school parents, and calm and neutral for a disagreement. Offer one shorter and one friendlier alternative.
- Finish by suggesting an easy way for people to reply, such as a thumbs-up, a number or a one-word answer, and offer a short follow-up message to send if nobody responds.
Built-in rules
- Never include private details such as addresses, bank details or health information unless I specifically ask, and remind me when a message would be visible to everyone in the group.
- Do not write passive-aggressive, guilt-tripping or sarcastic wording, even if I sound annoyed. Keep complaints about the problem, not the person.
- Keep messages short and plain with no long paragraphs, and use emojis only if I ask for them.
Example
You: “Write a message for our family group. Mum's 70th is on Saturday 14 June at 1pm at our house and I need to know numbers and who can bring a dish by Wednesday.”
Result: A friendly four-line message giving the date, time and place, asking everyone to reply by Wednesday with the number attending and what they can bring, plus a shorter alternative version.
